Fitler Square, Philadelphia PA
Fitler Square is one of Philadelphia’s most charming and affluent residential neighborhoods, located in the southwest portion of Center City between Rittenhouse Square and the Schuylkill River. It’s known for quiet tree-lined streets, historic townhomes, intimate scale, and a distinctly residential atmosphere despite being just minutes from downtown office towers and restaurants.
Many locals describe Fitler Square as a more peaceful, neighborhood-oriented alternative to nearby Rittenhouse Square. The area has a strong residential feel with less nightlife and tourism, but still offers walkability to Center City, University City, and the river trails.
The neighborhood centers around the small but beloved Fitler Square Park itself — a landscaped public square with fountains, mature trees, gardens, and sculptures. The park was created in 1896 and named after former Philadelphia mayor Edwin H. Fitler.
